Cluck cluck – who’s there? Smoked chickens have finally arrived, and will be stocked and ready for your eager tummies! That’s right- our delicious, animal welfare approved birds have been infused with delicious, smokey flavor, sure to tempt meat-eaters and non meat-eaters alike. There’s something so mouthwatering about the hearty smell of smoked goodies. These birds are sure to go fast – we haven’t had them for quite some time! Smoked birds are $6/lb, and sure to make your taste buds sing.

In addition to picking up a smoked chicken, why not pick up some fresh fruit? We’re savoring the cool, sweet raspberries and blackberries, as well as delightfully crunchy asian pears and Jonagold apples. It’s been a great year for fruit, and it’s always a great time for pie or cobbler- served up with a scoop of ice cream, what could be better as an after dinner treat in the cool of the afternoon?
Field day is next week, too! We hope you’ll join us and the Madison County Extension office at Hunt Acres next Thursday, September 5th for discussion about summer cover crops, shiitake mushroom production, and other topics, as well as tours of the college farm. We’ll also be cookin’ up some Berea College burgers and brats for you to enjoy! The fun starts at 5 pm- RSVP your spot by calling 859.623.4072.
Hope to see you at market, and maybe field day, too! Eat well and keep cool- but don’t take the heat for granted, as it may be the last that the summer has to offer us! Happy (almost!) September!
