The aquaculture project, established in 2011, is allowing us to examine the feasibility of small-scale, freshwater fish and shellfish production, processing and sale in the region.

The enterprise utilizes two former hog-waste lagoons as ponds and part of a former farrowing house that’s been renovated into a processing facility.

Students have produced tilapia, catfish and prawns, and hybrid bluegill.
